In the early years of my career, I equated leadership with speed.
Quick decisions. Fast responses. Constant movement. I believed the leaderโ€™s job was to always have a solution ready and push the team forward with energy.

When things are slipping, stakeholders are anxious, and teams are stretched, matching their stress doesnโ€™t help. It adds fuel.

What made a difference was learning to pause.
To hold space, listen, slow the spiral, and bring clarityโ€”not control.

Patience isnโ€™t about doing nothing. Itโ€™s about knowing when doing less helps others do more.

It took yearsโ€”and a few delivery firefightsโ€”to appreciate this fully. But now, itโ€™s one of the qualities I hold closest.
